JEONJU: The North Jeolla provincial government announced plans to establish a memorial altar for the victims of the recent Jeju Air plane crash, which resulted in the loss of 179 lives. The decision comes as the nation observes a seven-day mourning period for those affected by the tragedy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the memorial altar will be located inside the provincial government's office building in Jeonju, approximately 190 kilometers south of Seoul. It will be accessible to the public beginning at 2 p.m. and will remain open until the conclusion of the national mourning period on Saturday. This initiative aims to provide a place for individuals to pay their respects and honor the memory of those who perished in the accident.

The crash's impact is felt deeply in North Jeolla, where six of the victims were residents. "We are creating a space where people can pay their respects and commemorate the victims of this tragedy," a provincial government official stated, emphasizing the importance of community support during this difficult time.
