Netflix to Launch TikTok-Style Video Feed Clips in South Korea

Seoul: Netflix Inc. unveiled a series of updates to its streaming platform for members in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, including the introduction of a vertical video feed and new games for kids, featuring characters from the hit animation, "KPop Demon Hunters."

According to Yonhap News Agency, Elizabeth Stone, the chief product and technology officer at Netflix, announced at a press event with media from APAC countries that members in Korea and Japan will soon experience a redesigned homepage with enhanced navigation and the vertical video feature called Clips. This feature is designed to help members discover new content on the platform and will be available exclusively on mobile devices. It has already been rolled out in countries like India, Australia, and New Zealand.

The U.S. video streaming giant is also expanding its offerings for younger audiences. On June 20, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the release of "KPop Demon Hunters," Netflix will introduce a collection of mini games for children. These games will be available on Netflix Playground, a standalone mobile app for children aged eight and under, which includes mini games featuring popular characters like Peppa Pig and Sesame Street.

Lisa Burgess, general manager at Netflix Games, expressed the company's commitment to expanding Netflix Playground, aiming to offer about 25 different IP-based experiences by the end of the year. Since officially entering the gaming sector in 2021, Netflix has released over 100 games, primarily focused on the mobile platform.
