Seongnam: NCSOFT Corp., a major South Korean game developer and publisher, announced its ambitious goal to achieve 5 trillion won (US$3.38 billion) in annual sales by 2030. The company plans to reach this target through a long-term strategy centered on a diversified product portfolio.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Park Byung-moo, co-chief executive officer of NCSOFT, shared during a press conference at the company's headquarters in Seongnam that they aim to post 2.5 trillion won in sales for the current year, alongside a meaningful operating profit. Park emphasized that NCSOFT intends to grow consistently each year and quarter, ultimately reaching the 5 trillion-won sales goal by 2030 with a return on equity of about 15 percent. In 2025, NCSOFT reported 1.5 trillion won in sales, marking a 4.5 percent decline from the previous year due to reduced demand for its MMORPG titles, including Lineage, Aion, Blade and Soul, and Guild Wars.
The company's game portfolio currently relies heavily on MMORPG titles and specific markets such as Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. This focus has created earnings volatility, as the performance of individual games can significantly impact overall results. To address this, NCSOFT plans to expand its range of shooter and anime-style games to achieve more stable and predictable earnings.
Park revealed that the company has scheduled the launch of 10 new games by 2029. The strategy includes developing spinoff games from existing franchise titles and expanding into new markets to create stable cash flows, with an estimated 1.5 trillion won in annual sales from these initiatives. NCSOFT will also enhance its screening systems to evaluate new games from development stages and monitor market conditions.
Additionally, NCSOFT is focusing on establishing a strong presence in the casual mobile gaming market as a key strategy in diversifying its portfolio to reach the 5 trillion-won sales target. Mobile casual games represent about 30 percent of the global game industry, yet Korean game developers have largely overlooked this segment. To address this, NCSOFT has established a mobile casual center to build a comprehensive ecosystem leveraging its development, publishing, data analysis, and technology capabilities.
To lead this global expansion, NCSOFT appointed Anel Ceman, a seasoned European game industry veteran, as the head of the new mobile casual center. The company has also expanded its reach by acquiring overseas casual game developers, including Singapore-based mobile game publisher Indygo Group in December and German game developer JustPlay GmbH earlier this month.
