PANAMA CITY: National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik has held talks with Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral ties in infrastructure, Woo's office announced Wednesday. The discussion centered on potential collaborations to advance Panama's infrastructure projects, particularly focusing on the extension of a railway in the capital and a tunnel under the Panama Canal. According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting, which took place in Panama City on Tuesday (local time), saw Speaker Woo expressing his desire for South Korea to continue playing a significant role in the development of Panama's infrastructure. He emphasized the involvement of Korean companies in a major railway project proposed by President Mulino, which aims to link Panama City with the western city of David. In addition to railway projects, President Mulino requested South Korea's cooperation in constructing shipyards, underscoring the importance of bolstering Panama's shipbuilding industry. The talks highlighted mutual interests in infrastructure development and the potential for strengthened economic ties between the two nations.
