Musinsa Ventures into Malaysia’s Offline Cosmetics Market with Oddtype Line

Kuala lumpur: Musinsa Co., a South Korean fashion platform, has announced its expansion into Malaysia's offline cosmetics market with its private-label products. This move is part of Musinsa's broader global expansion strategy, aiming to establish a stronger international presence.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Musinsa signed an agreement in the first half of the year with Guardian Malaysia, a prominent health and beauty store chain, to distribute its Oddtype cosmetics line starting in August. Guardian Malaysia boasts more than 500 outlets nationwide, providing Musinsa with a substantial platform to showcase its products.

Under the terms of the deal, Musinsa plans to supply 28 Oddtype products to 100 Guardian stores by June of the following year. This initiative marks the second occasion Musinsa has introduced Oddtype products through an overseas retail partner, following a similar collaboration in Japan last year.

A company official stated, "We are also planning to expand into the offline cosmetics markets in Singapore and Thailand through partnerships with local companies." This indicates Musinsa's strategic efforts to penetrate other Southeast Asian markets.

In addition to its endeavors in Malaysia, Musinsa intends to establish its own offline stores in China later this year and in Japan next year. The company currently features approximately 8,000 South Korean fashion brands on its online platform and operates several offline stores within South Korea.

Of these brands, around 3,000 are accessible on Musinsa Global, the company's English-language platform that targets 13 Asian markets, excluding China. In South Korea, Musinsa runs 29 "Musinsa Standard" outlets, which sell its private-label products, along with four "Musinsa Store" locations that showcase partner brands.
