Seoul: The military manpower agency announced on Wednesday that it will provide interpretation services for conscripts with multicultural backgrounds during their physical examinations. This initiative aims to alleviate communication challenges faced by these conscripts.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) will offer interpretation services in 10 languages, including Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and Filipino. This will be achieved through collaboration with translators from government-operated family and multicultural family support centers nationwide.
The MMA anticipates that this initiative will enhance the accuracy of the pre-enlistment physical exam results for conscripts who struggle with the Korean language. The number of enlistees from multicultural backgrounds is increasing, prompting this supportive measure.
