President Lee to Convene Meeting on Public Safety Measures

Seoul:President Lee Jae Myung is set to hold a government meeting on Wednesday to discuss measures aimed at ensuring public safety and protecting the rights of victims of safety incidents.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting, which is the second plenary session of the national life and safety committee, will be presided over by President Lee at Cheong Wa Dae. It will focus on discussing measures to enhance public safety and uphold the rights of victims under the public life and safety law, which is scheduled to come into effect next Wednesday.

The public life and safety law, passed by the National Assembly on May 7, outlines the responsibilities of the country and local governments to secure the safety rights of citizens. This includes the protection of individuals' lives and properties and ensuring a safe living environment. The law also emphasizes the protection of victims of safety incidents, their families, and witnesses.

The meeting will be attended by approximately 70 participants, including government officials, victims of safety incidents, and their family members. During the session, officials plan to present the government's safety policies and strategies to reduce occurrences such as suicides, unattended deaths, industrial accidents, and crowd-related incidents, before hearing feedback from the victims and their families.
