Seoul: McDonald’s Korea, the local unit of the fast-food giant McDonald’s Corp., is set to reintroduce tomatoes to its burgers next week after a temporary removal due to a shortage caused by recent weather conditions. The decision comes after a brief suspension of tomato use in certain hamburgers starting October 15, when the company cited supply issues as the reason for the ingredient’s absence.
According to Yonhap News Agency, McDonald’s Korea addressed the inconvenience to customers by offering free beverage coupons to compensate for the missing ingredient. The company has announced that tomatoes, which have been scarce due to recent heat waves and other extreme weather conditions, will be available in stores nationwide beginning November 11.
