Daegu: The Samsung Lions have been the best offensive team in South Korean baseball this year by several measures, and their manager Park Jin-man is confident firepower will be what keeps the team alive in the ongoing postseason. The Lions are on the brink of elimination in the best-of-five second-round series in the Korea Baseball Organization postseason, as they trail the Hanwha Eagles 2-1 following a 5-4 loss at Daegu Samsung Lions Park in the southeastern city of Daegu on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Lions were silenced by flamethrowing starter-turned-reliever Moon Dong-ju for the second time this series Tuesday night, not scoring any run over four innings against him. But Park rightly pointed out Wednesday that his hitters have attacked virtually everyone else on the Eagles' staff, and he won't expect anything different in Game 4.

"Our hitters are in pretty good form, and I expect us to hit the way we're capable of today," Park said in his pregame media availability. "We only lost to Moon Dong-ju a couple of times."

Rookie right-hander Jeong Woo-joo will start for the Eagles in Game 4. Jeong held the Lions to two runs in nine innings across six relief outings in the regular season, but Park said those numbers won't mean much in the postseason. "We only faced him in short stints, and this is a different animal than a regular-season game," Park added.

Park had said before Tuesday's game that he hoped captain Koo Ja-wook would find his stroke soon. Koo responded by recording his first two hits of the series. But then cleanup hitter Lewin Diaz went 0-for-3, his first hitless game of this series. "Even during the regular season, Diaz would go hitless in one game and bounce right back in the next game," Park said. "Of course, we need both Ja-wook and Diaz to keep hitting from the middle of our lineup."

Park reiterated what he'd said postgame Tuesday and announced it will be all-systems-go with his bullpen usage. Even Gerson Garabito, the potential Game 5 starter if the series goes that far, will be available out of the bullpen. "We have been pushed to the brink and we have to use every tool we have to win this game," the manager said.
