LG Innotek to Supply Camera Modules for Amazon’s Zoox Robotaxis

Seoul: LG Innotek Co., an electronic components manufacturing unit of LG Group, announced Thursday that it will commence mass production and supply of automotive camera modules for Amazon's autonomous driving subsidiary, Zoox, which operates robotaxis.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this collaboration marks the first occasion where LG Innotek will deliver camera modules tailored specifically for robotaxi applications. Zoox, which was acquired by Amazon in 2020, established a pioneering robotaxi production facility in California last year, claiming it to be the world's first of its kind.

Zoox initiated its paid robotaxi services for the general public in Las Vegas on August 10. The robotaxis are engineered to function without driver intervention, showcasing a unique design with four passenger seats arranged to face one another, eliminating the need for a steering wheel.
