LG Electronics to Establish Robotics Division to Enhance Physical AI Capabilities

Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. announced plans to establish a new robotics business division directly under the chief executive officer as part of a strategic organizational restructuring. The initiative aims to consolidate essential capabilities for the commercialization of robotics, which LG identifies as a core component of its future ventures in the physical artificial intelligence (AI) sector.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the new division will function as a fully integrated entity responsible for business development, sales, and operations. Additionally, LG plans to establish a dedicated data factory team to generate and manage training data for robots. The company is currently constructing a large-scale robot training data factory at its research and development center in southern Seoul, with operations set to commence later this year.

This reorganization aligns with LG's expanding collaboration with Nvidia Corp. Earlier this month, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed that the U.S. chipmaker is partnering with LG Group on projects involving humanoid robotics and AI data centers, further cementing LG's commitment to advancing its capabilities in the emerging field of physical AI.
