Seoul: LG Display Co. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeong Chul-dong on Friday called on employees to accelerate efforts to promote the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve production efficiency. "From now on, we need to reform ourselves as a technology-oriented company, leaving customers with no choice but to choose us," Jeong said in a New Year's message. "We need to secure stable profits and a foundation for future growth across all areas to achieve full-fledged business normalization."
According to Yonhap News Agency, in the third quarter, LG Display swung to a profit on the back of robust shipments of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels across all segments. The display maker said its accumulated operating income for the January-September period came to 348.5 billion won (US$241.6 million), paving the way for an annual turnaround for the first time since 2021.
Jeong added the company needs to maximize productivity by applying AI-driven transformation across all processes from research to production. "Reforming the cost structure is the clearest way to protect profitability from external volatility," Jeong said, instructing employees to improve structural health by reducing costs through technology.
