Seoul: President Lee Jae-myung has issued a directive to develop strategies to prevent the dissemination of anti-Pyongyang leaflets in regions adjacent to North Korea. This decision comes in response to a report detailing the launch of such leaflets from Ganghwa Island in Incheon, located west of Seoul, as confirmed by presidential spokeswoman Kang Yu-jung in a written briefing. According to Yonhap News Agency, the police have initiated an investigation after discovering three balloons in Ganghwa and Gimpo City. These balloons were found to contain Bible booklets and snacks, yet lacked any leaflets specifically criticizing the North Korean regime. The presidential spokeswoman emphasized the government's previous stance that the unlawful distribution of these leaflets must cease to ensure the safety of residents in the border areas and to prevent the escalation of military tensions on the Korean Peninsula. She further asserted that the government "takes violators' actions very seriously" and warned of "stern measures" against those involved. A government meeting is planned for Monday to discuss comprehensive strategies to address the launches of anti-Pyongyang leaflets. Earlier in the week, President Lee had instructed relevant government agencies to formulate countermeasures against such activities.
