Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung discussed reforms aimed at separating the prosecution's investigative and indictment functions with the new head of the Democratic Party (DP), the ruling party said Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee met with the DP leadership, including Jung Chung-rae, who was elected as the new party head earlier this month, at the presidential office. This meeting underscored the government's commitment to prosecution reform, a significant agenda for the current administration.
The discussions lasted for more than two hours, during which Lee and DP members reaffirmed their dedication to the reform drive. The major principles of these reforms are expected to be announced before the Chuseok holiday in October, reflecting the urgency and importance of the initiative.
Lee emphasized the necessity for the government and the party to function as a cohesive unit to ensure that the public perceives the changes implemented by the new administration. This collaborative approach is seen as crucial for the successful implementation of the reforms, according to the statement released by the ruling party.
