Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung and first lady Kim Hea Kyung visited a neighborhood community center near Cheong Wa Dae on Friday to cast their ballots in early voting for the upcoming local elections.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the couple voted at the Samcheong neighborhood community center for the June 3 elections in Incheon's Gyeyang-B district, where their personal residence is registered. The early voting period, which started on Friday, spans two days and includes both local elections and parliamentary by-elections. Voters have the opportunity to choose from candidates for 16 mayoral and gubernatorial posts, 227 local government chief positions, and approximately 4,000 local council seats. More than 3,500 polling stations are available nationwide from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both voting days.

This election is particularly significant as it is the first major electoral event for the Lee administration since taking office in June. The results are anticipated to serve as a referendum on the administration's first year, potentially influencing future policy directions and the structure of its personnel.
