Seoul: Lee Jae Myung, the President of South Korea, and First Lady Kim Hea Kyung participated in early voting on Friday, casting their ballots at a neighborhood community center near Cheong Wa Dae. This move comes ahead of the local elections slated for June 3, which are seen as a pivotal moment for the administration.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the presidential couple exercised their democratic right at the Samcheong neighborhood community center, located in Incheon's Gyeyang-B district, where their personal residence is officially registered. The early voting process began on Friday and will continue for two days, involving both local elections and parliamentary by-elections. The election will see 16 mayoral and gubernatorial positions contested, alongside 227 local government chief roles and approximately 4,000 local council seats.

Voters across the nation have the convenience of choosing from more than 3,500 polling stations to cast their votes between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. This election marks the first significant electoral test for the Lee administration since it assumed office in June, and it is largely viewed as a referendum on its performance during its inaugural year.
