Boston: South Korea's state-run trade promotion agency announced it is operating a Korean pavilion at a major U.S. biotech exhibition this week, highlighting the country's bio and pharmaceutical technology.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the pavilion, managed by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), includes 58 companies in collaboration with five local industrial associations, such as the Korea Planning and Evaluation of Industrial Technology (KEIT). This is part of the annual BIO International Convention that began on Monday in Boston.

Participating Korean companies have engaged in a series of business discussions with global pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca. The event is scheduled to conclude on Thursday.

KOTRA also organized a special event to present Korea's biotech industry, attracting approximately 500 officials from major global pharmaceutical firms, including Johnson and Johnson and Roche. Additionally, the agency provided consultation services to Korean biotech companies aiming to enter the U.S. market and promoted Korea's new visa program meant to attract highly skilled foreign talent to South Korea.

The BIO International Convention is one of the largest biotechnology events globally, drawing over 20,000 government officials, industry leaders, and experts from around the world.
