Jacksonville: South Korean pitcher Go Woo-suk has been released by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, making him a free agent midway through his second season in the United States.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the right-handed reliever had a 1.59 ERA over 5 2/3 innings in five outings with the Jumbo Shrimp this year, but did not record a win-loss. Go, 26, initially signed with the San Diego Padres in January 2024 after spending seven seasons with the LG Twins in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), where he was one of the top closers. Despite his success in the KBO, he did not make it to a big league game for the Padres and was kept in the minors before being traded to the Marlins in May.

Go's time with the Marlins also did not see him advance to the majors, as he was designated for assignment shortly after being acquired last year. This year, Go was a non-roster invitee to the Marlins' spring training, but a broken finger prevented him from competing for a roster spot.

Returning from his injury in early May, Go advanced from Rookie ball to Triple-A before being released by the Jumbo Shrimp. With his career at a turning point, Go may consider joining another U.S. club or returning to the LG Twins.
