Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced a notable downturn with several key stocks closing lower. Among the most affected were LIG Defense and Aerospace, which saw a decrease of 40,000, closing at 735,000, and KCC, which dropped by 38,500 to close at 494,500. Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. also faced a significant decline of 26,000, ending at 455,000.
According to Yonhap News Agency, other major players such as HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and POSCO Holdings saw decreases of 18,000 each, closing at 564,000 and 305,000, respectively. The index's performance was further impacted by Samsung Electronics and HD KSOE, which declined by 19,000 and 20,500, closing at 339,500 and 345,500, respectively.
The downturn extended across various sectors with companies like LS, which dropped by 25,500 to 334,000, and Lotte Fine Chem, which decreased by 1,300 to 42,450. Notably, GS Retail and DB Insurance also faced declines, closing at 21,450 and 131,500, respectively.
Despite the overall downward trend, a few companies such as d'Alba Global and ASIA HOLDINGS bucked the trend with increases of 5,500 and 2,100, respectively, closing at 237,500 and 166,400. Kumho Tire also saw a rise, closing at 4,990, up by 510.
The market's performance reflected widespread declines across various industries, impacting investor sentiment and possibly indicating broader economic concerns.
