KOSPI 200 Sees Significant Decline Amid Market Fluctuations

Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced a notable decline as numerous companies reported a drop in their stock prices at the close of the trading session. Among the few gainers, Hanwha Systems closed at 59,900, up by 500 points, offering a sparse ray of positivity in an otherwise downbeat market.

According to Yonhap News Agency, several major companies witnessed significant downturns. APR saw a drop of 11,700, closing at 172,000, while SKSQUARE fell by 11,800 to settle at 140,300. HDHMS and HYOSUNG TNC also faced declines of 11,500 and 10,500, closing at 193,000 and 225,500, respectively. In the banking sector, WooriFinancialGroup and KakaoBank both fell by 1,100, closing at 23,600 and 27,000.

The retail and technological sectors also faced challenges. BGF Retail reported a decrease of 1,100, closing at 112,000, and SK ie technology dropped by 1,300, ending the day at 26,450. KakaoPay also experienced a decline, falling by 3,300 to close at 60,800. LG Corp. and LG Innotek faced declines of 4,100 and 3,900, closing at 75,100 and 152,600, respectively.

Chemical and energy companies were not spared, with SKCHEM dropping 3,400 to 64,600, and LOTTE CHEMICAL Corp falling by 2,500 to 64,000. In the energy sector, S-Oil saw a decline of 2,400, ending at 60,300. The industrial sector also recorded losses, with HD HYUNDAI MIPO and SamsungHvyInd declining by 16,400 and 460, closing at 195,600 and 18,580, respectively.

The aerospace and specialty chemical sectors were also affected. Hanwha Aerospace saw a significant decline of 57,000, closing at 939,000, while ISUSPECIALTYCHEMICAL dropped by 2,850, ending at 41,350. Despite the overall downturn, OCI Holdings managed a marginal loss of 200, closing at 93,600.

This widespread decline across various sectors reflects the ongoing market volatility, with investors closely monitoring the situation to assess future market trends.
