Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index exhibited a range of movements in its latest trading session, with several companies experiencing notable gains while others faced declines. Among the top performers, LS Electric and KB Financial Group recorded significant increases.
According to Yonhap News Agency, LS Electric surged by 16,000 to reach a closing price of 308,500. KB Financial Group also made a considerable leap, climbing 7,700 to close at 117,600. These gains were part of a broader upward trend seen in the financial sector, with Meritz Financial increasing by 1,900 to 127,800, and BNK Financial Group rising by 460 to 15,460.
The electric and technology sectors also saw positive movements, with SamsungSecu gaining 1,600 to close at 74,200, while the share price of HDKSOE increased by 500 to 414,500. Meanwhile, in the consumer goods sector, Celltrion's share price increased by 200 to reach 169,700.
Despite these gains, some companies experienced declines. LG Innotek saw a significant drop, falling 8,900 to 160,800. Samsung Biologics also faced a downturn, with its share price decreasing by 7,000 to 1,034,000. OCI Holdings and SD Biosensor were among others that recorded losses, decreasing by 2,700 and 20, respectively.
In the energy sector, KDHC showed a notable increase, climbing 1,400 to 83,200, while KEPCO rose by 600 to 38,700. However, SK Innovation experienced a slight drop, falling by 100 to 106,500.
Overall, the KOSPI 200 index reflected a mixed performance, with substantial gains in several sectors counterbalanced by declines in others. The fluctuations highlight the ongoing dynamic movements within the South Korean stock market.
