Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index showed a downward trend as several key companies reported declines in their stock prices. The index witnessed notable decreases in shares of companies across various sectors, reflecting a challenging day on the South Korean stock market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, HDKSOE experienced a significant drop of 25,500, closing at 415,000. Korea Zinc also saw a substantial decline, with its stock price decreasing by 31,000 to settle at 1,365,000. Hanwha Ocean and Samsung C and T recorded drops of 10,700 and 11,000, closing at 124,200 and 399,500, respectively.
In the energy sector, S-Oil's stock price fell by 1,100, ending at 107,000, while Hanwha Solutions declined by 1,650 to close at 40,700. Meanwhile, LS Electric's shares decreased by 15,000, settling at 246,500, and OCI Holdings saw a drop of 24,000, closing at 364,000.
Samsung Heavy Industries and KEPCO also experienced declines, with their stock prices falling by 1,050 and 450, closing at 28,400 and 39,050, respectively. Additionally, Hanwha's stock decreased by 11,700, ending at 139,200, and Samsung Securities dropped by 3,400, closing at 120,800.
Despite the general decline, some companies experienced gains. Hanchem and DWS saw slight increases, with their stock prices rising by 500 and 400, closing at 281,000 and 22,450, respectively. Coway's shares increased by 900, ending at 92,400, while SK hynix and Samsung Life recorded gains of 46,000 and 3,000, closing at 2,289,000 and 357,500, respectively.
In the technology sector, NAVER's stock price rose by 6,200, closing at 205,000, and NC experienced a rise of 7,000, ending at 284,500. KT and G also saw an increase, with their stock rising by 4,000 to close at 183,700.
