Seoul: The Korean Series champions Kia Tigers have decided not to bring back left-hander Eric Lauer following his brief stint in the South Korean league, while the KT Wiz are set to replace veteran starter Wes Benjamin after their three-year association. According to Yonhap News Agency, the two American pitchers were among 11 players on the non-tendered list announced by the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) on Saturday. A total of 57 players have not been tendered contracts for 2025. Apart from those who have already announced their retirements, non-tendered players are now free agents. For KBO teams wishing to retain foreign players, they must keep them off the non-tendered list; however, this does not guarantee a reunion for the following season. Teams retain rights to such players for five years, meaning they cannot sign with another KBO team without their previous club's consent. Eric Lauer, who joined midseason, recorded a 2-2 with a 4.93 ERA in seven starts. Should he choose to return, he is free to join any KBO team. The Tigers have re-signed pitcher James Naile for the 2025 season. Meanwhile, their foreign outfielder Socrates Brito remains off the non-tendered list as the team considers his future. Elsewhere, the KT Wiz will not retain Wes Benjamin, who achieved a 31-18 record with a 3.74 ERA over three seasons. He excelled against the LG Twins, posting a 1.66 ERA in 10 starts. The Wiz have re-signed Venezuelan right-hander William Cuevas and are reportedly negotiating with outfielder Mel Rojas Jr. In other team news, the Doosan Bears have signed two new foreign pitchers, Cole Irvin and Thomas Hatch, for the 2025 season, making Jordan Balazovic and Brandon Waddell free agents. The Kiwoom Heroes have also released their foreign pitchers from the 2024 season, Ariel Jurado and Enmanuel De Jesus, who were among the most effective foreign pitching tandems. The rebuilding Heroes will carry just one foreign pitcher for 2025, Kenny Rosenberg. The Hanwha Eagles have also made pitcher Jaime Barria and outfield er Yonathan Perlaza free agents.
