Seoul:The Kia Tigers advanced in the South Korean baseball postseason after decisively sweeping the LG Twins, the defending champions, with a commanding road victory.
According to Yonhap News Agency, slugger Kim Do-yeong played a pivotal role by launching a grand slam during a remarkable seven-run second inning. Starter Keisho Shirakawa also delivered an impressive performance, pitching five strong innings and striking out a season-high of nine batters, leading the Tigers to a 13-1 victory in Game 3 of their best-of-five series in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason.
With this sweep of the 2025 Korean Series winners, the Tigers, who were champions in 2024, will now face the Samsung Lions in the next round, which is also a best-of-five series. Na Sung-bum contributed significantly with two solo home runs, while Han Jun-su added a solo shot of his own. The Tigers' starting lineup was exceptional, with each member recording at least one hit and one run, marking them as only the fourth team to achieve this in a postseason game.
The Tigers dominated offensively, outhitting the Twins 16-8. The upcoming Tigers-Lions series, a rematch of the 2024 Korean Series, is set to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, located in the southeastern city of Daegu.
