New York: Kia Corp., a smaller affiliate of South Korea's top automaker Hyundai Motor Co., announced Thursday that its all-electric EV3 has been named the 2025 World Car of the Year at the New York International Auto Show. This prestigious accolade marks the sixth win for Kia at the World Car Awards since 2020.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the recognition of the EV3 underscores Kia's commitment to producing design-led, technologically advanced, sustainable mobility solutions. Kia President and Chief Executive Song Ho-sung emphasized in a press release how the EV3's attributes redefine the user experience for customers globally.

The compact EV3 sport utility vehicle (SUV) boasts a range of up to 605 kilometers on a single charge and features rapid charging capabilities, going from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. The awards were determined by a panel of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries, with the largest representation from the United States, a key market in the automobile industry.
