Key Art Fairs Kiaf and Frieze Set to Open in September

Seoul: Kiaf Seoul and Frieze Seoul are scheduled to take place concurrently in September, attracting art collectors to one of the year's most prominent events in the art scene. A total of 175 galleries from 18 countries will participate in Kiaf from September 2 to 6 at the COEX convention center in Seoul, with 20 galleries joining the event for the first time, according to the Galleries Association of Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, prominent galleries taking part include Gallery Hyundai, Kukje Gallery, and Hakgojae from South Korea, alongside Whitestone Gallery from Hong Kong and Kornfeld Galerie from Berlin. Marking its 25th anniversary, Kiaf has appointed fashion designer Jung Ku-ho as its creative director, marking the first time an external creative director has been appointed for the event.

The fifth edition of Frieze Seoul will also be held at COEX from September 2 to 5. The event will feature more than 125 galleries from 30 countries, with approximately 70 percent of the galleries based in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to the main section, which includes major galleries such as Gladstone and Lehmann Maupin, a separate section curated by three independent curators will present a wide range of trends in modern art, according to the organizers.
