Jecheon: The 22nd edition of the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival (JIMFF) will kick off next month, with a record 189 films set to meet audiences, organizers said Thursday. The musical film "Congo Boy" (2026) will open the festival, scheduled to run from Sept. 3-8 in Jecheon, about 120 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "A record 189 films will be screened, alongside various performance programs," the festival's executive committee chair Chang Hang-jun, known for helming the historical drama "The King's Warden" (2026), announced in a press conference. "Good movies, good music, and good people are waiting," Chang stated.

Korean auteurs Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook will attend the opening ceremony, with Bong also participating in a program for audiences. Actor Ahn Jae-hong has been named the festival ambassador.
