Japan Begins Conscripting Koreans into Military During Colonial Rule

Seoul: Japan initiates the conscription of Koreans into its military forces during its colonial rule over the Korean Peninsula. This decision marked a significant shift in Japan's policy, as its leaders had previously hesitated to implement conscription in Korea following the annexation in 1910. The reluctance stemmed from fears that arming Koreans could lead to potential revolts. However, with the escalation of conflicts in China and the onset of the Pacific War, Japan was compelled to adopt this conscription system to secure adequate manpower.
