Hyundai to Supply Zero-Emission Vehicles for APEC Ministerial Meetings in South Korea

Seoul: Hyundai Motor Group announced on Tuesday that it will supply official vehicles for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ministerial meetings hosted by South Korea. These meetings are set to take place next month.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai has signed an agreement with South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to provide vehicles for the 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting, the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting, and the 10th Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting. These gatherings are scheduled to occur in Busan in August.

The automotive company will deliver a total of 63 zero-emission vehicles for the events. This fleet includes 34 units of the Nexo hydrogen fuel cell sport utility vehicle (SUV), 12 units of the Genesis G80 electric sedan, and three hydrogen-powered Universe buses. Hyundai aims to showcase its technological prowess and commitment to a sustainable future through this initiative.

This marks the first occasion wherein hydrogen-powered vehicles will be used as primary protocol vehicles for international energy ministerial events. Kim Dong-wook, executive vice president at Hyundai Motor Group, expressed the company's intent to demonstrate their eco-friendly vehicles at a global energy forum, sharing their vision for sustainability and innovation with the international community.
