Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co. announced that its cumulative domestic sales of hydrogen fuel cell buses have surpassed 3,000 units, reflecting an increase in demand for eco-friendly commercial transport.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the automaker's total sales of fuel cell buses reached 3,062 units as of March. This represents significant growth from the 1,000-unit milestone achieved in 2024 and the 2,000-unit mark reached in 2025. Hyundai Motor has been a pioneer in hydrogen technologies since 1998, leading the hydrogen commercial vehicle market with the introduction of the Elec City bus in 2019 and the Universe bus in 2023.

The company credits the milestone to rising demand across sectors such as commuter transportation, coupled with strong support from local governments promoting hydrogen bus usage. Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group is expanding its own use of hydrogen buses, operating 74 hydrogen commuter buses nationwide and planning to add 55 more this year.

A Hyundai Motor official stated, "We will continue efforts to lead the eco-friendly commercial vehicle market and expand the hydrogen mobility ecosystem."
