Hyundai Motor to Recall Over 94,000 Vehicles in the U.S. Due to Fire Risk

Accra:Hyundai Motor America is set to recall more than 94,000 Hyundai and Genesis vehicles in the United States because of a potential fire risk linked to overheating power seat motors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the recall involves 94,622 vehicles, specifically targeting certain 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis and 2017-2020 Genesis G80 models. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a recall notice on October 9 detailing the issue.

The problem arises from front power seat motors that may overheat as a result of a stuck power seat control switch. This defect could potentially cause a fire, whether the vehicle is parked or in motion.

As a precaution, vehicle owners have been advised to park their cars outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the necessary repairs are completed to mitigate the risk of injury. The remedy for this defect is still being developed, with notifications to affected vehicle owners expected to be mailed on December 7.
