Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co. has announced a significant milestone in its executive leadership by promoting Jin Eun-sook to the position of president, marking the first time a woman has held this top executive rank within the company. Previously serving as the executive vice president, Jin has been instrumental in overseeing the automaker's software and information and communications technology (ICT) divisions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this strategic appointment is part of Hyundai Motor Group's broader initiative to accelerate digital transformation and innovation across its software and information technology (IT) sectors. The company expressed confidence in Jin's ability to enhance IT systems and infrastructure, thereby executing future IT strategies effectively.

Jin Eun-sook, aged 57, brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously worked as a senior executive at NHN Corp., a prominent information technology firm. She joined Hyundai Motor in 2022, initially leading the ICT division, and since then, has spearheaded significant IT initiatives. Her contributions include the integration of a global "one-app" platform and the development of a next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

Hyundai Motor highlighted Jin's extensive career in the ICT industry, emphasizing her tenure as chief technology officer (CTO) at NHN. Her expertise in cloud computing, data, and platforms, coupled with her global perspective, positions her as a key figure in driving the company's digital transformation efforts.
