Novaky: Hyundai Mobis Co. announced on Thursday that it has commenced production of power electric (PE) systems at its newly established plant in Slovakia. This development marks a significant expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) components production network across Europe.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the opening ceremony for the state-of-the-art facility in Novaky, located in the Trencin Region, was attended by notable figures including Hyundai Mobis CEO Lee Gyu-suk and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The PE system, a vital component in EVs, integrates an electric motor, inverter, and reduction gear to convert electrical energy from the battery into mechanical power for the vehicle.

The newly constructed plant is situated on a sprawling 106,000-square-meter site, roughly the size of 15 soccer fields, and boasts a floor area of 8,500 square meters. It has been designed with an impressive annual production capacity of 280,000 PE systems, signaling Hyundai Mobis' commitment to scaling up its production capabilities in the region.

This Slovak plant is Hyundai Mobis' inaugural PE system production base in Europe, enhancing its existing EV parts manufacturing footprint that includes facilities in the Czech Republic and Spain. This strategic move underscores the company's dedication to supporting the growing demand for electric vehicles across the continent.
