Gyeongju: K-pop star G-Dragon has been appointed honorary ambassador for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Gyeongju in October, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok said Wednesday. Kim announced the appointment on his Facebook page, describing G-Dragon as South Korea's "leading artist" who has "continuously demonstrated creativity and innovation," including by transmitting his music into space.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the prime minister expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "With 100 days to go until the summit, please watch the synergy between G-Dragon and the APEC summit!" The prime minister serves as head of the summit preparation committee.
The annual event is scheduled to be hosted by the southeastern city on October 31, with the participation of leaders from the 21 APEC economies.
