Seoul: Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol stated that uncertainties surrounding U.S. tariff measures remain "very" high following a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision. The announcement came during a parliamentary briefing after the court struck down former President Donald Trump's global "reciprocal" tariffs.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Koo expressed that the level of uncertainty is significant. While the court's decision might offer potential positive developments, it also poses risks, especially in light of Trump's announcement to increase the global levy from 10 percent to 15 percent on trading partners despite the court's ruling.
Koo indicated that while the latest measure is expected to be similar to previous policies, there is no final decision yet. He emphasized the difficulty in making definitive statements at this stage, highlighting the complexity of the ongoing situation.
The finance minister reassured that the government would address the evolving scenario proactively while ensuring stability.
