The supernatural thriller "Exhuma" maintained its position as the top-grossing movie at present, data showed Monday. According to the data from the Korean Film Council, the film led the weekend box-office chart, attracting 1.27 million viewers from Friday to Sunday. Released Feb. 22, the movie surpassed 8 million cumulative viewers Sunday. It took 18 days for the film to reach the mark, a week shorter than last year's highest-grossing film, "12.12: The Day," a historical saga depicting South Korea's military coup in 1979. The film "Exhuma," starring Choi Min-sik and Kim Go-eun, revolves around two shamans, a feng shui expert and a mortician who join forces to investigate a string of mysterious occurrences affecting a wealthy family based in the U.S. They embark on this journey by exhuming the grave of the family's ancestor in a remote Korean village. The Hollywood blockbuster "Dune: Part Two" landed at No. 2 on the weekend box-office chart with 292,000 moviegoers, bringing its total admissions to 1.28 mi llion.
