English Chatbot Service Launched to Aid Multicultural Conscripts

Seoul: The military manpower agency announced Monday the launch of an English-language chatbot service designed to make military service information more accessible to conscripts who experience challenges communicating in Korean.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ara chatbot will offer 24-hour online counseling and comprehensive services related to military administration. This includes assistance with military service examination, conscription, and mobilization training, as stated by the Military Manpower Administration (MMA).

The service aims to benefit those subject to mandatory military service both domestically and internationally by providing crucial information in English, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder the fulfillment of military obligations.

MMA Commissioner Hong So-young emphasized the agency's commitment to expanding digital military administration services. "We will continue to expand digital military administration services so that citizens can conveniently fulfill their military service obligations regardless of where they are," Hong stated in a release.
