Seoul: The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) and its supporters held a massive rally in central Seoul on Saturday, criticizing the Yoon Suk Yeol government for what they termed as mishandling of state affairs. The protestors demanded a special counsel probe into first lady Kim Keon Hee. According to Yonhap News Agency, DP leader Lee Jae-myung, along with approximately 100,000 party members and supporters-a figure claimed by the party-gathered near Gwanghwamun Square to stage the protest. This protest marks the fifth of its kind orchestrated by the party. The demonstrators called on President Yoon to approve a bill for a special counsel investigation into Kim Keon Hee. The allegations against her include involvement in a stock manipulation scheme, interference in election nominations via a broker, and acceptance of a luxury bag, among other accusations. Earlier this week, President Yoon vetoed the proposed bill, marking the third instance of rejecting a DP-led bill. During the rally, Rep. Kim Min-seok a ddressed the crowd, stating, "Judging Yoon Suk Yeol and punishing Kim Keon Hee ... are all a battle for democracy."
