Seoul: Doosan Group announced its commitment to provide US$5 million in emergency aid to Nepal in the wake of devastating floods and landslides that have resulted in significant loss of life and numerous individuals reported missing. The financial aid is aimed at facilitating search and rescue missions as well as other critical relief activities in the regions severely impacted by the disaster.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the aid comes as a response to the dire situation that has unfolded in Nepal, where six employees of Doosan Enerbility Co., a subsidiary of Doosan Group, went missing at a hydropower plant construction site in the Rasuwa district. This incident occurred after large-scale flooding swept through the area. In addition to the Doosan employees, three workers from Korea South-East Power Co., a government-owned power generation company, are also missing.

Efforts are underway to locate and rescue the missing individuals. Meanwhile, 10 other Doosan workers, who have been confirmed safe but remain stranded, are awaiting evacuation from the affected zone. To coordinate these efforts, Doosan Enerbility has established a 40-member emergency operation center at its headquarters in Seongnam, located just outside Seoul. This center is leading the response under the guidance of co-Chief Executive Officer Jung Yeon-in, who has already traveled to Nepal to oversee the rescue operations.

Jung emphasized the company's commitment to the safety of its employees, stating, "We are in close cooperation with related authorities in Nepal. We will do our best to rescue our missing employees." The disaster, which struck the north-central Himalayan region near the Nepal-Tibet border, has claimed at least 160 lives and left over 400 individuals, including many foreigners, unaccounted for, as reported by international media outlets.
