Seoul: Doosan Enerbility Co., a leading South Korean plant builder, announced it has secured a 130 billion-won (US$88 million) supply order from Qatar. This order is part of a significant power plant project in the Middle Eastern nation.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the contract involves a partnership with Samsung E and A Co., under which Doosan Enerbility will supply 430-megawatt-class steam turbines and generators to the Facility E Independent Water and Power Project. This project entails the construction of a 2,400-megawatt combined-cycle gas power plant in Qatar. Samsung E and A has been appointed as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the development.
This recent acquisition marks Doosan Enerbility's second order from Qatar, following a previous 290 billion-won contract secured in March. A Doosan Enerbility official commented on the success, noting that the company's expanding supply contracts in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, are reinforcing its position in the global gas-fired combined-cycle power generation market. The official emphasized the company's commitment to providing solutions tailored to customer needs to enhance its competitive edge in securing future orders.
