Seoul: Chen Yanshun, chairman of China's BOE Technology Group Co., has engaged in discussions with senior officials of Samsung Electronics Co. in Seoul, following the resolution of a dispute with Samsung Display Co. that concluded in favor of the South Korean firm, industry sources reported on Monday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Chen visited Samsung Electronics' headquarters located in Suwon, south of Seoul, where he met with Yong Seok-woo, the head of the visual display business at Samsung. The BOE chairman's visit to Seoul is part of a two-day trip.
The discussions between the two parties focused on expanding BOE's supply of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels to Samsung Electronics, which relies on Chinese manufacturers for all its TV displays.
Chen's visit follows the recent settlement between Samsung Display Co., an affiliate of Samsung Electronics, and BOE over a technology infringement dispute concerning organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. This settlement came after a preliminary ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in July, which would have prohibited the import of BOE's OLED panels into the United States for over 14 years.
