Seoul: The Doosan Bears announced Tuesday they have signed former major league pitcher Thomas Hatch to their roster. Hatch, who has experience in both Major League Baseball (MLB) and Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), will be joining the Bears for the upcoming season. According to Yonhap News Agency, Hatch agreed to a one-year deal valued at US$1 million, which is the maximum amount allowed for all first-year foreign players in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). The 30-year-old right-handed pitcher was initially drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the third round of the 2016 draft. However, he made his MLB debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020. Hatch's career saw a turn during the 2023 season when he was waived by the Toronto Blue Jays. He was subsequently claimed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in August of the same year. Now, as he prepares to join the Doosan Bears, Hatch brings with him a wealth of experience and a fresh opportunity to make an impact in the KBO.
