Dispatched Troops Safe Following U.S. Strikes in Iran: JCS

Seoul: The South Korean military stated that there are no safety concerns for troops stationed overseas following reports of U.S.-Israel strikes against Iran.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) released a statement after Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back called for an "immediate" inspection of the safety of military personnel deployed in regions such as Lebanon and Somalia. JCS Chairman Gen. Jin Yong-sung was updated on the situation during a video call with commanders of the dispatched units, emphasizing the need to ensure the safety of both troops and Korean nationals abroad.

This development comes in the wake of preemptive strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran on Saturday morning, part of a military operation concerning Tehran's nuclear program. In response, Iran reportedly launched missiles targeting Israeli and U.S. bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar.
