Seoul: Daemyung Sono Group, a prominent South Korean condominium and resort company, announced plans for its holding company to enter the Japanese market by the end of this year with its hotel and resort business. Under a consignment operating agreement with a local hotel operator, Sono International will renovate and reopen the Compass Hotel Nagoya under the new name, Sono Moon Nagoya, in July, as mentioned in a company press release.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Japan is considered a pivotal market for Sono International's global expansion strategy due to its well-developed tourism infrastructure and significant travel demand in major cities. A company official highlighted the importance of Japan in their global growth plan, signaling confidence in the country's potential to support their business objectives.
Sono International made its first foray into the international market with a resort facility in Vietnam in 2019. The company currently manages 21 hotel and resort properties across five countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, the United States, and France. Looking ahead, Sono International aims to expand its footprint in Asia with plans to open 11 additional hotel and resort properties by 2029.
