Busan: Tied for the lead at LIV Golf Korea with one round to go, Joaquin Niemann of Chile and Talor Gooch of the United States both said Saturday they will take an aggressive approach on the final day of the tournament.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Niemann completed his round with a score of four-under 66, while Gooch signed for a 69 at the par-70 Asiad Country Club. Both players entered the media center for a press conference, offering similar responses when asked about their mindset for Sunday. Niemann stated his intention to aim for every fairway and green and attempt to make every putt.

Gooch echoed a similar sentiment, emphasizing his plan to focus on hitting fairways and greens while making putts. Both players have prior victories in LIV Golf, with Niemann securing two wins in 2024 and five in 2025, while Gooch achieved three wins in 2023 and another in 2025. However, both are seeking their first win in 2026, aiming to break their winless streak on Sunday.

Niemann reflected on his recent struggles with patience and the pressure to perform perfectly. He mentioned the importance of focusing on routine and allowing himself to play more freely, highlighting the unpredictable nature of golf and life. Gooch, too, noted the necessity of patience on the 7,024-yard course, emphasizing the importance of staying present to avoid unexpected bogeys.

Gooch, who hails from Oklahoma, shared his plans to manage early morning nerves by watching the Oklahoma City Thunder play against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. The timing of the game allows him to watch it entirely before the final round begins, providing a distraction and helping him manage pre-game jitters.
