Toyota:Choo Ga-eun clinched the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air pistol event at the Asian Games, securing South Korea's first gold of the competition. Choo achieved a new Asian record with a score of 246.3 points, marking her first Asian Games gold medal during her debut at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Shen Yijao of China finished second with 241.3 points, and Jiang Ranxin, also from China, took the bronze with 221.6 points. The previous Asian record of 245.3 points was set by Yukari Konishi of Japan in December 2017, while Choo's score also broke the Asian Games competition record of 242.1 points, previously set by Palak Gulia in 2023.

Earlier, Choo set a new competition record in the qualification round with 582 points, helping South Korea win silver in the team event. In the final, she narrowly missed the world record by 0.7 points. The final began with eight shooters, each firing 10 shots in two series, followed by single shots where the lowest-ranked competitor was eliminated every two shots.

Choo led from the start, scoring 51.8 points in the first series and 101.6 points after the second. Her lead grew through the single-shot stage, maintaining a significant gap over her competitors. By the 17th shot, Choo was 3.1 points ahead of Shen. With 22 shots completed, only Choo and Shen remained, with Choo holding a 4.1-point lead.

Although Choo did not break the world record of 246.9 points, she secured a comfortable victory with her final score, becoming the first South Korean to win this event since 2010.
