Cheong Wa Dae Demands North Korea Halt Missile Launches

Seoul:The presidential National Security Office (NSO) has called for North Korea to immediately cease its ballistic missile launches, labeling them as serious violations of international sanctions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the demand was made during an emergency meeting after the South Korean military detected multiple ballistic missiles being launched from the Pyongyang area over the East Sea. The NSO emphasized that these repeated missile launches by North Korea are in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions and do not contribute to the stability of the Korean Peninsula.

The emergency meeting included officials from South Korea's defense ministry and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who reviewed the country's readiness and security posture in light of North Korea's actions. The NSO stressed the importance of taking all necessary measures to assess the impact of the latest missile launch on South Korea's security.

This development follows North Korea's previous launch of a ballistic missile on October 3, which it claimed was a test of an intermediate-range hypersonic strategic missile. Tensions have been escalating between the two Koreas, particularly after incidents involving mine explosions near the heavily fortified border, which injured three South Korean soldiers. While Seoul and the U.S.-led U.N. Command have attributed these explosions to the North, Pyongyang has denied any involvement and accused Seoul of fabricating the evidence.
