Seoul: Gen. Kang Shin-chul, the deputy commander of the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command (CFC), is set to depart for the United States on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance the allies' combined defense posture, as reported by the CFC. According to Yonhap News Agency, Kang's visit, extending through November 28, will commence with a flower-laying ceremony at a monument honoring those who served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. His itinerary includes engagements with key institutions such as the U.S. Department of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Kang is also scheduled to deliver a lecture to military trainees focusing on the South Korea-U.S. alliance and the operational role of the CFC. Additionally, he will visit research institutions to explore the significance of the alliance in maintaining regional peace and stability. "Amid a stern security circumstance that requires a firmer combined defense posture than ever, this visit is expected to serve as an occasion to further bolster the po werful bond of the South Korea-U.S. military alliance," the CFC stated.
