Seoul: Celltrion Inc., a leading South Korean biopharmaceutical company, announced that its fourth-quarter net profit more than doubled compared to the previous year, driven by robust sales from its expanded biosimilar portfolio.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the net profit for the three months ending in December soared to 527.9 billion won (approximately US$362.6 million) from 235.5 billion won in the same period of 2024. The company credited this significant growth to the increased sales of newly introduced biosimilars, including Remsima SC, Steqeyma, Yuflyma, and Vegzelma.

Operating profit also more than doubled during this period, reaching 475.2 billion won from 196.4 billion won. Meanwhile, sales increased by 25.1 percent, climbing to 1.33 trillion won from the previous 1.06 trillion won. These quarterly results surpassed the company's earlier projections, which had estimated an operating profit of 472 billion won on sales of 1.28 trillion won.

For the entire year of 2025, Celltrion's net income surged to 1.03 trillion won from 418.8 billion won the year before. The operating income for 2025 increased dramatically to 1.16 trillion won from 492 billion won in the prior year, with sales rising by 17 percent to 4.16 trillion won from 3.55 trillion won.

The company stated that these results aligned with its forecast of surpassing 1 trillion won in annual operating profit for the first time, bolstered by its expanded biosimilar lineup. Looking forward, Celltrion aims to achieve 5.3 trillion won in sales in 2026 by securing supply contracts for high-margin new products and reducing dependence on items with higher raw material costs.

Additionally, Celltrion plans to increase the share of new biosimilars in total sales to 70 percent this year, up from 54 percent last year. The company has been broadening its global biosimilar portfolio, increasing the number of approved products from six to eleven, with a goal to commercialize 18 biosimilars by 2030 and 41 by 2038.

Celltrion's only original drug, Zymfentra, is currently marketed in the United States for treating autoimmune diseases, and sold as Remsima SC in Europe and other regions.
