Biden Expresses Condolences Over Jeju Air Crash, Commits U.S. Support

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Joe Biden expressed profound sorrow following a catastrophic plane crash involving Jeju Air in South Korea, assuring that the United States is prepared to offer any needed support. The accident, which occurred in Muan, resulted in the deaths of 179 individuals, with only two survivors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Jeju Air aircraft, which was carrying 181 passengers, attempted a belly landing at an airport in Muan on Sunday morning, leading to a devastating explosion. The incident has prompted an outpouring of grief and condolences from around the world.

In his statement, President Biden emphasized the strong alliance and friendship between the United States and South Korea. "Jill and I are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life that occurred as a result of the Jeju Airlines accident in Muan, Republic of Korea," he stated. He further conveyed that the American people stand in solidarity with South Koreans during this trying time.
